Sunday Night

So my agenda for the past weekend was kind of half fulfilled...
SAT
-laundry (check)
-chemistry (.5 check)
-physics (check)

SUN
-English essay
-App essay
-Reward:piano (check)

Today I played piano for a couple of hours. I suck so bad now because I havent been playing consistently. Well my friend was at the piano before I got there and he happened to have Totoro song sheets! So I played Totoro theme songs such as this one:

I watched the entire Oscars for the first time in my life. I still need to watch the Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Reader, and Rachel Getting Married. In response to Vanessa's comment about Slumdog Millionaire, I think you should watch it. I didn't see a lot of movies this year, but that was definitely the best movie I saw in a couple years. And plus I would actually willingly pay to see it again so thats something!!

I think the only good thing about Macs is Photobooth. Apple should stop trying to dis PC through their commercials. If they are better then they don't need to dis.

(Mac commercial)
Versus Windows Commericial:

Now that's a real commercial.
Well I suppose I shall finish the unfinished work on my agenda now.

TGIF.

This week was so stressful. I kicked off my weekend with a flu shot ($27). I haven't gotten sick once since coming to Santa Clara, but I figure I should get it for preventative measures, and so I did. I feel so tired, yet I do not feel like sleeping at all. I only had 5 hours of sleep last night. Well I am listening to my Zune right now and it's making me happy.

Reasons why a zune is better than an iPod

1) There's radio

2) You can send songs wirelessly to your other Zune friends

3) 30 Gigs for half the price

4) Microsoft!

5) Awesome Indian customer service

By the way speaking of Indian I'll do another movie review

SLUM DOG MILLIONAIRE

I saw this movie online last weekend and was shocked at how horrific things were in India. The movie was filmed so well that I might even actually see it again on the big screen. It's such an eye opening movie because you don't think about those kind of things happening there, or at least I dont. The movie is about these two orphan brothers who become hustlers (MIA's Paper Planes song is in one of the scenes and I was surprised at how well it went with it). At first they were both taken in by this big bad guy who trains orphaned kids to become panhandlers. So there's this one kid who sings really well, and the big bad guy makes the kid blind so that when he begs for money while singing he can make twice as much. Well the two oprhan brothers escape from the big bad guy upon seeing how wax being poured into the kid's eyes, and they go do their own hustling in the touristy part of India. Later one of the brothers end up on India's version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, and wins the big bucks. He is accused of cheating, but he knew all the answers from the experiences that he went through. So you should see this movie, plus it was nominated for a lot of awards.

Movie Review

He's Just Not That Into You

This movie meshses together the story of 4 (or was it 5) different girls and their love life. One girl Gigi keeps on trying to find a guy, but meets Andy who tells her that when a guy doesn't call back then he's just not interested, and that's the end of the story. She calls him constantly for advice during her dates. She eventually misconstrues his kindness as love, and makes a move on him when he actually did not like her at all. Later, he realizes that she is a sweet girl and starts liking her. They start going out and live happily ever after. The other story is of a married woman who's husband is cheating on her, and eventually she gets a divorce. And so on.

So most of the movie was quite slow and boring. Though, there were some moments where you really empahtize with the character, such as the akwardness of Gigi. It came together in the end because everything ended happily and everyone got what they wanted. It's one of those movies that you leave smiling :)

V-DAY SADNESS

Valentines Day just blew up in my face. Every where I go I see it. Lovey dovey people, chocolate dipped strawberries, heart shaped everything. My roommate just asked me what she should get for her boyfriend and I said I don't know how about some heart print boxers? -_______- I feel like a cynical person hating all those who rejoice in this time of year. OK so maybe I am a bit jealous that I DON'T have a boyfriend. This is the first time in my life that it has ever hit me like this. I mean I could live without a boyfriend (I'm living now aren't I?) but I feel like I could be happier if I did have one. I wish I could just have a boyfriend for Valentines day so I wouldn't feel left out.
I have a friend who finds it surprising that I never ever had a boyfriend. I attribute it to my immense fear of rejection. It's not that I never liked anyone in high school or now in college. I don't force myself to talk to the guys that I like. I even pretend to not like them and lie to myself so that I don't seem like I do like them. I eventually get myself to believe that I do not like them. I always found some way to distract myself. I would make a freaking perfect nun!!!!! Sadness. I guess it was never a priority for me to have a boyfriend, but now that I'm in college and V-DAY is coming up that to-do is moving up the list.

Random Update

So since I got back to school after winter break I've started experimenting with alcohol more routinely. It started with ski trip in which I played my first game of Trumps...with drinks. It was just jungle juice and tasted completely fruity yet there was hard liquor in it. Last Friday after midterms, I went with my friend to a huge block party and then a small house party. We had gin, merlot, vodka, and coke to chase it down with. That was the first time I got completely wasted. That same night I ended up hanging out in someones room eating Taco Bell at 1 in the morning with 2 guys that I met at the party. Yesterday I went with the same friend and her suitemates to a frat house party. Same thing. Drunk people everywhere. Yelling. Music. Ping pong balls bouncing.

I have to admit that drinking is fun. It makes everything funny. I couldn't stop laughing. I laughed at everything. I laughed at my friend opening the fridge looking for more booze. I laughed at guys skipping around with their bags of Taco Bell. I laughed at the elevator door closing in my friend's face. This was the experience I had the first time I got drunk.

After that I started to question why I did it. And I did it because I wanted to know from first hand experience what it felt like. Prior to that I only had sips of stuff and not really being affected by it. Now that I know what it feels like I really do not have a reason to want to do it again, except maybe to just laugh? But that's not a valid reason because a sugar high can get me laughing at things too without killing my brain cells.

Last night after just one shot of vodka and cranberry juice I felt like I was just drinking to fit in. Because everyone else was doing it. I was being the sterotypical dumbass-'let's get wasted' college student. I threw away my cup and wanted so badly to leave. So my friend and I did leave early. I hate feeling like I'm doing things just to fit in. I do not like the taste of alcohol. The way it burns as it travels down my throat. I liked the feeling of bliss the first time, but that was just because it was all new and foreign and kind of exciting to me. I'm not the type of person that will party every Friday night. That's just not me. I am not the stereotypical college student. But I am also not one to religiously refuse alcohol. So I will drink when I feel I need to relieve stress and want to have fun, but not just to fit in and be one with the party scene.

Anywho. These are my thoughts.

Margaret Cho is pretty damn funny. Youtube Asian American.

Things that I want to make myself a happier person

1. A boyfriend for Valentines day
2. Christmas lights for my dorm room.
3. A faster metabolism
4. More pillows and cushions

I just realized that anyone can read anything I post

So the internet is a scary place. I find it weird that I am pouring my thoughts out into this blog and that ANYONE can read them. I have been spontaneously posting to this and have not been caring about what I say, but I feel like I should only blog about things that I don't mind ANYONE reading about. I'm not sure how to make it so that only you guys can read this blog since I don't know all your email adresses. And I'm not sure which ones of you in "the Fellowship" actually still read this blog anyway, except for Nicole :) So for now my blog is still public, but if you actually care about reading my posts please leave a comment with your email/ blogger id / username thing.
