Mood: Exhausted

I don't really like school right now. I'm not sure if its because I miss home or if its because of the work or if its some other reason. Ahhh I want to sleep for an entire day. I feel overworked, yet I'm here in the library right now. I just ate a turkey wrap and am now waiting for my chemistry lab group to arrive so we can get started on our lab report. I have no idea wtf happened in this lab, so I believe we are going to be here a long time tonight. We mixed some solutions and weighed some precipitates and goshh. I'm just ranting right now to....relieve stress? I don't really want to do anything right now.... Three more days till thanksgiving break ^_^ I don't think I've looked forward to any break more than this one.
I've been thinking about the future and what I want to do with my life. It is what fills my idle time. I realized that if I go to medical school I will be away from home and my family for an extremely long time. I don't know if I can handle that. I do not know if its worth it. Well they are here g2g!

Winter Quarter Classes

Since you all are talking about the future and classes and stuff, so will I. So next quarter I'm taking Calculus IV, General Chemistry II w/ lab(grrrr), some history class called WEstern Civilizations, English I Honors, and possibly international Economics. I think that I pretty much decided that I'm going to major in bioengineering with a minor in Economics, then go to med school to get my M.D. It makes me frustrated when my mother tells me not to become a doctor since I am a girl and I will have to work too hard, but I really don't want to settle for less. I mean being a civil engineer is OK I guess, but it just seems like a secure career path. I don't think it would be something that I would enjoy doing for the rest of my life. Anyways, I'm still undeclared in the school of engineering, but it's just a matter of filling out a piece of paper and getting some signatures from department heads now.

Sea Otters: my new favorite animal!

I would like to dedicate a post to sea otters (scientific name: Enhydra lutris) as I have nothing that exciting worth mentioning in my life at the moment. Sea otters are a keystone creature in the marine ecosystem. They feed on shellfish, such as abalone, and other marine invertebrates including small octopus. Their predators include killer whales, sea lions, and humans. They were once extremely endangered. There were like 1,000 or 2,000 of them but now there are over 150,000 sea otters alive. They inhabit the coastal regions of the Northeastern Pacific Ocean. They spend most of their time in water and can hold their breath for up to 5 minutes. They have two layers of fur that is not only water repellent, but traps warm air bubbles to help them stay warm. One of the more unique aspects of sea otters compared to other marine mammals, is that they have no blubber. Their skin is extremely light weight, and the trapping of air bubbles helps them keep afloat in the waters to allow them to groom, eat, and even sleep.
They even hold hands! (sooo cute! thanks for showing me this video nicole)

So you may be wondering how I know all this information, and its because I had to do a paper on them this weekend for my Introduction to Physiology Class :)

Halloween

On Halloween I didn't have a costume, but at the last minute I borrowed my guy friend's jeans and I became "Jenny from the Block". :) I borrowed hoop earrings from my suitemate, and used someone elses hat, and tilted it (gangster style). I attended my first college party tonight at someone's house. People were hysterically drunk. I just had a cup of some mix of alcohol and kool aid and a sip of something called hypnotique which I could feel in my ears after the first sip. It was not that pleasant so I refused to take shots. I was the only sober one of the group of people I was with. It was funny to see people getting drunk, but after a while I got bored. I watched people play beer pong but did not partake. ] Next year I am SO going to make geting a costume a priority.
